PRESS RELEASE: Editor Announces Renovation of Website and Forthcoming Publication of New Book Series

"WE ARE DELIGHTED to announce that the website is currently undergoing extensive renovation and will soon be getting a new, fresh look and improved functionality," said Rand Green, editor and publisher of the online publication. The newly renovated website will also be more responsive to smaller screens such as those on smart phones and tablet PCs.

Rand, a career journalist, author, and editor, initially launched, an online publication of Rand Green Communications, in 1999.

Rand has made his living with the written word for almost half a century. He has worked largely in the business sector but also with consumer magazines, daily newspapers, political newsletters, and religious publications. In all, he has written more than 18,000 articles that have appeared in print — the equivalent of about eighty 300-page books. He has also authored books of nonfiction, fiction, and poetry.

Rand had published Perspicacity Press as an ink-on-paper newsletter for several years before launching the internet version, as a counterbalance to the deliberate distortions promulgated by many in politics, in Big Media, in academia, and in the entertainment industry who have chosen to join in common cause with the enemies of freedom. became fairly influential with a readership peaking at nearly 100,000 unique visitors in months leading up to the 2008 election. "Despite my warnings and the warnings of others, Obama won the presidency," Rand wrote in the preface to a forthcoming book. Four years later, despite his further warnings, Obama won re-election in a landslide.

"Personally, I was confident that Americans would have been fed up with four years of an anti-American in the White House — a president who had worked methodically, day after day, to dismantle and destroy everything that had made America great, a president who was driven by a perverted but deeply-ingrained conviction that America does not deserve to be great," Rand wrote. "I was sure that freedom-loving Americans would not allow Obama a second term, but I was wrong. It was unimaginable to me that after four years of Obama, voters would go to the polls and say, 'More, more, we want more.' But that is just what the voters did."

During the ensuing four years,  Rand devoted much of his time to the research and writing of a new book series chronicling the catastrophic course of events that had brought the U.S. Constitution and the form of government envisioned by America's founders to the brink of extinction. The first volume of that series will be published this spring. When it becomes available, its publication will be announced here.

"As the 2016 presidential election approached, voters were faced once more with a similar choice to the that of 2008 and 2012, except that this time the stakes were higher," Rand wrote in the book's preface. "If voters were to choose wrong again, they  almost certainly would never have another chance, as the political establishment was poised to permanently render the Constitution irrelevant and to strip from the American people their sovereign, sacred, God-given rights to liberty and self-government.

"Would voters again say they wanted more tyranny, more globalism, more government control over every aspect of their lives, less prosperity, less opportunity, less freedom, and less voice in government, by allowing Hillary Clinton to become Obama's successor? Or would they vote for a president who would work to protect and preserve the Constitution, reclaim and secure our national sovereignty with power resting in the hands of the People, not the elites, and  make America great again?"

Fortunately, American voters chose wisely on Nov. 8, 2016, making Donald J. Trump the 45th President of the United States and "assuring that for at least one more election cycle, we would have still have a country and the People, not just the political elites, would still have a voice in government.

"We, the People, won a major battle in the 2016 election, but the hard work is ahead of us," wrote Rand. "President Trump's agenda is exactly what is needed to keep our country free and safe and to make America not only great once again but greater than ever.

"But it will be a daunting task, as there are powerful forces united and resolute in their determination to stop that agenda and unrelenting in their campaign to malign Trump's character. Among those so intent on that evil pursuit are the shamelessly dishonest anti-American  propagandists who dominate the so-called 'mainstream media,' mendacious pseudo-journalists who have made a mockery of their profession and have long-since forfeited any claim to journalistic legitimacy."

Because the old-line media can no longer be trusted, Rand said, the newly renovated "is intensifying its commitment, in concert with many other independent communications ventures whose publishers are also true patriots, to the vital task of restoring honesty and credibility to the news business by bypassing the media establishment and giving the American people reliable alternatives to AP, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, Faux News, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the Boston Globe, the  San Francisco Chronicle, and the hoard of other smelly rags that have forgotten how to tell the truth."

In the newly renovated Perspicacity Press, "we will continue to wield the Sword of Truth against the dishonest mainstream media establishment and their deceitful anti-American propaganda campaign," Rand said.

You can look forward to regular postings of exclusive news, commentary, and analysis on Perspicacity Press which continues to bring clarity, acuity and veracity to vital issues and events.

Many of our older articles continue to be available in our archives, and others will be soon, but please be patient, as website renovation is a time-consuming process..

Supreme Court Declares the Constitution Unconstitutional

ONE THING was made crystal clear in the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling on Obamacare today (June 28, 2011), if it had not been clear already:  The U.S. Supreme Court, as presently constituted, cannot be relied upon to do the right thing, not even when the very efficacy of the U.S. Constitution itself hangs in the balance. What is not only stunning but staggering is that it was not the ambivalent Justice David Kennedy who sided with the Obama Administration in what is widely regarded as the most consequential case to come before the court in generations. No, this time, David Kennedy voted to uphold the Constitution. Rather, it was the "reliably" conservative Justice John Roberts whose vote tilted the court's decision to the left, upholding Obamacare in its entirety and effectively declaring the United States Constitution unconstitutional.

Only one person has what it takes to beat Obama: YOU!

YOU, MY FRIEND, are an American patriot. You love this country, its freedoms, its founding principles. You recognize that the direction Barak Obama and Company are taking this country is the wrong direction, that it has lead to the nation's economic decline and, of even greater concern, to a loss of liberty under an ever larger, ever more controlling and more intrusive government. You know that four more years of Obama and Company will almost certainly have disastrous consequences for the future of the United States and that turning Obama and his cronies out of office, including all those in Congress who support his Progressive Socialist agenda, must be the first order of business.

To win in 2012, Conservatives
must play chess, not checkers

Checkmate"IT'S TIME," wrote Dr. Milton R. Wolf in a New York Post column Dec. 7, 2011, "for conservatives to quit playing checkers and start playing chess. Stop sabotaging our own candidates and instead create a path that rewards conservatism no matter who our nominee is." Otherwise put, if Republicans are to have any hope of victory in the 2012 Presidential election, they need a winning strategy, and that means they need to think strategically, rather than just focusing on jumping all over each other.

We Will Never Forget!
Speech delivered at Memorial Day Service at Liberty Veterans Cemetery, Fresno, California

Rand GreenTHE NUMBERS of courageous young Americans who have lost their lives in defense of liberty, from the time of the American Revolution to the present day, are almost beyond comprehension. The numbers of those lost, sometimes, in a single battle stagger the imagination. Many others were wounded, or suffered as prisoners of war, or endured great hardships — and all, as President Reagan said, because "they loved America very much."

Yet as every one of you here today know all too well, it is not the numbers that matter, but the individuals. Their lives. Their hopes. Their dreams. Their courage and valor. Their personal sacrifice. We remember, and we honor, and we grieve for each one individually. And each one has his own story.

Islamist Propaganda Warfare
The latest CAIR propaganda video demonstrates why we've got to be smarter than our enemies

THE GREATER Los Angeles Area office of the Council on Islamic-American Relations (CAIR) on March 2 released a 5 minute, 52-second video entitled "Hate Comes to Orange County" which purports to depict "a rally organized by anti-Muslim bigots" to protest what purported to be "a fundraising event held by an American Muslim relief group for relief work and charity in the U.S." Both assertions are erroneous. Put bluntly, resistance to efforts by Islamist extremists within the United States to destroy the United States does not constitute bigotry against Muslims who do not fit that description!

Refudiating [sic] LSSU's List
of "Banished" Words

Yesterday, Lake Superior State University in the beautiful, if somewhat nippy, community of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, published its "36th annual List of Words Banished from the Queen's English for Mis-use, Over-use and General Uselessness." Among the entries topping this year's list are: viral, epic, fail, a-ha moment, back story, man up, refudiate, mama grizzlies, the American people, I'm just sayin', Google (as a verb), and live life to the fullest.

I presume none of that is intended to be taken too seriously, so it is in the spirit of good clean fun that I undertake to refudiate the list and counter a few of the corny, confused, contrived, or catty comments made by some of those who nominated the entries.

Sikh Awareness Month event in Selma, CaliforniaIN THEATRICAL productions, mistaken identity is a device often used to create comedy. But in real life, mistaken identity can lead to unfortunate and sometimes tragic consequences. That has often been the case with members of the Sikh religion in the United States. Because many of them wear turbans, they have often been mistaken -- by uninformed individuals -- for Islamist terrorists or terrorist sympathizers. Yet in reality, they are as different from the terrorists as a loyal sheepdog is from a predatory wolf.

Election 2010:
Republican Tsunami Couldn't Splash Over the Sierras

THE 2010 ELECTION was a great day for America in many ways, but it was a victory in which the Left Coast chose not to participate, and that misfortune − that poor judgment on the part of a majority of California voters − does not bode well for the future of the Golden State.

China in the Chips
Is a corresponding continued decline
of the United States inevitable?

NEW YORK TIMES, today, announced that a Chinese research center has built the world's fastest super-computer, giving China "bragging rights as a technology superpower."

That's a notable achievement any way you slice it, but to keep it in some perspective, China's new warp-speed Tianhe-1A computer, which has military as well as commercial applications (and implications), was built with computer chips made by U.S. companies.

More importantly, although not mentioned in the Times article, just as China's rapid rise as an economic power has been possible only because of U.S. consumerism, China's rapid progress in computer technology has been possible only because of technology transfers from the United States.

Myths and Realities in the Immigration Debate

AT THE TOP of the agenda right now for the Democratic entrenchment in the United States Government is to do whatever is necessary to keep themselves in power in perpetuity as the ruling class. One of the chief strategies they look to for achieving that goal is the wholesale purchase of Hispanic votes by granting amnesty and fast-track citizenship to as many as possible of the 12 to 20 million predominantly Hispanic illegal aliens presently in the country – and to encourage the continuing influx across our borders of more of the same.

The leftist-dominated major media in the United States, who had much to do with putting radical leftist Democrats in power in the White House and Congress in the 2008 election, want in the worst way to make people believe that the Hispanics who are legally in the United States – including the many whose families have been U.S. citizens for generations – are unanimous in their support for amnesty and open borders. But that is a myth.

Obama − a Christian or a
Muslim − and Does It Matter?

OBAMA and all other politicians who pursue an agenda with the intent to dismantle the Constitution and our traditional American institutions and values must be held accountable based on those actions, not based on the religion they profess.

You can't express your opposition to the building of an Islamic mosque at Ground Zero in NYC because to do so is a violation of Shari'ah Law!

LAST EVENING, Friday, Aug. 6, I received an email from Act! for America, under the heading UNBELIEVABLE CENSORSHIP!, forwarding to me a shocking communication from Pamela Geller of Stop Islamisation of America. Ms. Geller and Robert Spencer, also of SIOA, have filed a lawsuit against New York City's Metropolitan Transit Authority for censoring their freedom of speech speech – out of deference to Shari'ah law! I felt that the email, including Ms. Geller's complete communication, were important enough to reproduce in their entirety here. A statement from the law firm that filed the suit follows. You think Shari'ah law won't come to America? It's here, my friends! Read on, and you'll see.

The Corrupt Mainstream Media Is Fighting Tooth and Claw To Hang Onto its Dictatorial Power

Photo of Richmond & Baccus Co. Detroit, press room, circa 1902 (public domain, Library of Congress archives)POP QUIZ: The Mainstream Media is (a) in the news business; (b) in the propaganda business; (c) in the business of wielding political power.

It has been true for a long time, and it has been talked about for a long time, but it has become more blatant and more obvious in the last few months than ever before: The so-called "Press," or what is often referred to as the Mainstream Media or MSM, really does believe that it has every right not only to tell you what to think but also to tell the president how to preside, the lawmakers how to legislate, and the judges how to adjudicate.  READ MORE

What Right Has the Left
To Tell Us Who We Are?

IF THERE IS anything spewing from the mouths of Democrat politicians these days that I find more disgusting, offensive, and tedious than their presumptuous insistence on telling us "who we are," I can't think what it is − unless, perhaps, their predilection for slandering as racist anyone who disagrees with any aspect of the Progressive agenda.

Barack Obama, arguably the worst, most divisive, and most anti-American president in American history, had a deeply warped vision of what he thought America should be and what Americans should be, and whenever public sentiment did not support his agenda to radically transform American culture and values, he was always quick to lecture us by saying, "That is not who we are." President Trump and DHS
Respond to Recent Litigation

ON FRIDAY, Jan. 27, just seven days into his presidency, President Donald J. Trump took an important first step in fulfilling a promise that was one of the major pillars of his election campaign, signing an executive order designed to protect from the entry of foreign terrorists into the United States through "extreme vetting."

President Donald Trump with quote.

President Trump's opponents on the Left were already poised to spring into action, and several groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union, promptly filed lawsuits. The ACLU litigation, a "motion for stay of removal," was filed with a U.S. District Court in New York, presided over by Judge Ann Donnelly, an Obama appointee. Judge Donnelly granted the stay late Saturday.

On Sunday, Jan. 29, President Trump issued the following statement:  READ MORE

Friday, January 20, 2017, Is
a Day We Will Never Forget

HOW MANY watershed dates in American history can you remember − quickly, just off the top of your head? July 4, 1776, of course. But what others?

I don't mean dates of calamitous events, such as the bombing of Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941 or the Islamic terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 or the assassination of President Kennedy on Nov. 22, 1963, but truly great days in our country's history that cause your heart to swell with patriotic pride. Besides the signing of the Declaration of Independence, what dates and what events come to mind?

Some may point to the signing of the Mayflower Compact or perhaps the Boston Tea Party or the midnight ride of Paul Revere, or possibly George Washington's prayer at Valley Forge; perhaps the signing of the Constitution or the Emancipation Proclamation or the D-Day invasion at Normandy or Apollo 11 landing on the moon or Rev. Martin Luther King's "I Have Dream" speech. You might think of all of those, and others as well, and they are all momentous events that are burned into our collective national memory, even if the day, month, and year do not instantly pop into our heads. But if you had to choose the two or three most important, which would they be?

Photo of Donald Trump by Gage Skidmore with quote by Trump.

I will wax bold, here, and make what some will regard as an astonishing prediction: If President Donald J. Trump is successful in achieving over the next four or eight years even one-third of what he has promised the Americana people he intends to do as president − and judging from his remarkable accomplishments in just his first week in office, I see that as highly probable − he will be depicted by future historians as among the greatest presidents in American history. Many patriotic Americans will regard him as the greatest president since Lincoln or even since Washington. And January 20, 2017, the day of his inauguration, will, in the minds of many, be remembered as the greatest moment in our history since the first Independence Day 240 years ago.

Yes, I am serious.

Because Donald J. Trump is the president who will have halted America's demise, prevented globalist and socio-fascist elites from striking a death-blow to government of, by, and for the People, and put America back on the path to greatness.  READ MORE

McMullin voters in Utah are playing Russian Roulette with five rounds in the cylinder

Oct. 26, 2016 — Utah voters who are gambling on the long shot that by voting for Evan McMullin they can throw the Presidential Election into the House of Representatives are playing Russian Roulette with five rounds in the cylinder and the barrel pointed at the heart of the American Republic. If you are among those who are contemplating a vote for McMullin, I urge you to prayerfully reconsider before you engage in what can only be regarded as an act of reckless endangerment to our country's future.

If you lose your gamble and Hillary Clinton becomes president, your grandchildren and great grandchildren yet unborn will never know what it means to live in a free and independent United States. Let that weigh on your precious, sanctimonious conscience.

But if you can't see that now, in 10 days it will be too late, to your everlasting shame. You will forever live with the knowledge that because you are offended by something lewd someone said 11 years ago, something for which he has repented and asked God's forgiveness, you would rather see the most corrupt and dishonest candidate in American history become president than to tarnish your impeccable soul by voting for a sinner whom God has forgiven but you cannot.

Donald Trump's corrupt political foes, both within and outside of his own party, and their big donors from Wall Street to Riyadh, have so much to lose if Donald Trump drains the swamps in Washington DC and overturns the tables of the money changers that they have undertaken a billion dollar smear campaign to convince you that he is a reprobate through and through. It is a campaign built on lies and innuendo, and it is assailing your senses incessantly from every sector. It is the most powerful propaganda barrage ever undertaken anywhere in the world, but most American voters aren't buying it. However, as you well know, this election may well turn not turn on the popular vote but on the electoral vote, and the globalists who back Hillary are focusing strongly on Utah voters to help keep trump from getting the needed 270 electoral votes and assure a Clinton victory. The people behind this slanderous, dishonest, and relentless campaign are evil to the core, but they have succeeded in deceiving some of the "very elect" such as yourselves that it is Trump who is evil and that no really righteous soul should ever consider voting for him. For hypocrites such as they, who strain at a gnat but swallow a camel, Christ reserved his most scathing rebukes. Satan is shrewd. Do not allow yourself to be sucked in by him.

You must ask yourself if you would rather see Hillary Clinton destroy the Constitution with the appointment of anti-American activist judges, strip American citizens of their freedom of speech, press, and religion, and surrender American sovereignty to her globalist puppeteers, than to give Donald Trump, admittedly an imperfect man but most assuredly a good man and a great man who deeply loves America and the American people without regard to ethnicity or religion, a chance to put his proven skills to work on restoring America's greatness, prosperity, and freedom.

The Great Double Irony of the
GOP Presidential Candidate Pledge

JULY 10, 2016 — A little over four years ago, as the 2012 Republican Presidential Convention approached, I posted on these pages a plea to all GOP presidential candidates, urging them to take a pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee as vigorously as they would support their own candidacy, because only such unity would prevent a second term for Barak Obama. (See below.)

In retrospect, that was a great double irony.

First of all, not only did none of the 2012 Republican presidential candidates take such a pledge, but even the Republican nominee, George Romney, failed himself to work vigorously for his own victory. In a word, he threw the fight. His purposely tepid campaigning effectively handed Obama a second term. The consequences have been Catastrophic.

Now, in 2016, we are approaching another GOP convention. The Republican front runner, Donald Trump, has garnered more primary and caucus votes and a broader base of support than any Republican candidate in history, but "Republican" George Romney is once again doing his best to assure a Democrat victory. He has been joined by many other party elites who are doing everything within their power to keep Trump from getting the nomination, despite having an overwhelming majority of pledged delegates, and, that failing, to assure that even if nominated Trump does not make it to the White House.

Early in the primary campaign, Donald Trump was pressured to sign a pledge to support the ultimate Republican nominee, a pledge very similar to the one I proposed four years earlier. He did so, as did other candidates. But that was only because at the time they thought he had no chance of becoming the nominee.

When Trump's message resonated with the American people and it became clear that he was unbeatable in the primaries, some of the defeated candidates − Ted Cruz, John Kasich, Jeb Bush, and others − repudiated their pledge, and therein lies the second great irony. They, along with Romney and many others in the G.O.P. power structure, would rather see a Hillary Clinton presidency and a continuation of Obama's anti-American Progressive-Socialist-Globalist agenda than have upstart Donald Trump, who is not a member of their Good-Old-Boys-and-Girls club, in the Oval Office.

The reason for that betrayal has become painfully clear: Donald Trump will put America and the American people first and put a stop to the globalist agenda of the corrupt Republican − and Democrat − establishment and their wealthy globalist donors, an agenda that is decidedly not in the best interest of the United States or the American people and will, in fact, bring an end to American sovereignty and assure the demise of the U.S. Constitution. Obama, in two terms, has done more to advance the anti-American Progressive-Socialist-Globalist agenda than any president in U.S. history.

Currently, these Never-Trump G.O.P. elites are even floating the idea of changing the convention rules in advance of the nominating votes, releasing pledged delegates from their pledges and allowing them to vote their "conscience." Clearly, a pledge means nothing to these people, and that includes the oath to uphold and defend the Constitution which all of them who have ever held public office have taken. In truth, they have no conscience. It has been seared with a hot iron.

Obama, in two terms, has been able to advance the anti-American Progressive-Socialist-Globalist agenda more successfully than any of his predecessors, and he did not do that by accident or incompetence. He has set the stage for Hillary Clinton to administer a coup de gras to the U.S. Constitution in her first term in office. Simply put, Obama has deliberately destroyed our nation, and Hillary is poised to make it permanent and irreversible. She must be defeated in November, and voting for Trump is the only way to make that happen!

Using "budget cuts" as an excuse for letting criminals go loose is reckless endangerment

Car burglaryOct. 22, 2011 — Fresno, California, which has the dubious honor of being the car theft capital of the world, the police have been working hard to identify, capture, put out of business and bring to justice the career criminals responsible for most of the car thefts, and they have been having considerable success. With the arrest Thursday, Oct. 20, of a man who admits to being responsible for more than 1,000 vehicle thefts in the Fresno area, three of the top five "most wanted" car thieves on the police department's list are now "behind bars," according to the Fresno Bee.

"But there is no guarantee he will stay there for long," the Bee reported Oct. 22. "Because of county budget cuts, Sheriff Margaret Mims has opted to close jail floors, which reduces the jail's capacity. When the number of inmates hits capacity, the jail must begin releasing inmates." And in fact, "early releases may begin once the capacity hits 90 percent," the Bee story said....   MORE

Freedom Leads to Prosperity

Oct. 18, 2011 — "THE FREE MARKET has provided more wealth and spurred more innovation than any other system in history," wrote Mike Brownfield, editor of The Heritage Foundation's email newsletter, Morning Bell, today. Said McGurn: "The Almighty who created us in His image also bequeathed to us a world where we are most prosperous when we are most free."  MORE

The respect accorded Osama's corpse
is an outrage!

Osama Bin LadenON THE EVENING of Monday, May 2, 2011, for one fleeting moment, I was proud of my president.

I know it will shock some people to hear me say that, because in the 28 months since his inauguration as president of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama has done almost nothing that I have not regarded as shameful. But on the rare occasion when I think he does get something right, even if it is for the wrong reasons, I am not beneath saying so.

Whatever his motives, I believe Obama made the right decision in approving a boots-on-the ground operation to take out Osama bin Laden, rather than bombing his compound from 30,000 feet as I would have expected from this commander-in-chief or simply letting the opportunity slide. We got Bin Laden, and that is good. The real credit goes to the Navy Seals, to George W. Bush, and to many others; very little of it to Obama. But he did approve the order, and for that I give him credit.

Moreover, I found surprisingly little to criticize in Obama’s May 2nd address to the nation announcing the death of Bin Laden at the hands of U.S. forces. I know a lot of people have read a lot of sinister things into the president's speech, and I could pick it apart with the best of them. But in truth, most of it sounded as though it had been written by Bush speech writers. I don't doubt it was almost wholly disingenuous, but at least Obama was, for the most part, saying the right things. At least, for once, he wasn’t apologizing to the world for what he regards as the evils America has inflicted on humankind.

It didn't take long, however, for Obama to turn a victory into a mockery. Burial at sea for Osama's corpse made sense, but why the haste? Why the meticulous adherence to Muslims law if killing him was, as Obama said, a great thing not only for America but for the Muslim world? Why the respect accorded Osama's remains, the ceremonial cleansing, the 40-minute religious service in tradition ordinarily reserved in the Muslim faith for highly esteemed religious leaders, including prayers that he be taken into the bosom of Allah, if Osama was such an evil man that he deserved to be assassinated, deserved to be shot in the eye and have half his face blown away? All of this is in abject contradiction to Obama's claim the prior day that Osama was not a Muslim leader and, by implication, not a true Muslim (since real Muslims, he contends, don't commit the kinds of atrocities Osama did).

Responding to criticism over the fawning respect accorded Osama's corpse, Obama said it was done so as not to provoke retaliation from Muslims. But wait, Mr. President. Do you mean to say that real Muslims, peaceful Muslims, who don't regard Osama as a true Muslim and who abhor the way he has hijacked their religion of peace and given it a bad rap, and who you suggest are giving us a standing ovation for capping the guy, would turn violent and retaliate if we just dumped Osama's body to the sharks without it being first blessed and anointed? Hogwash, Barack. Sorry, but I have to ask: Did they teach you to use those kinds of syllogistic absurdities at Harvard, or do you just come by them naturally?  — Perspicaciously Yours, Rand Green, Editor/Publisher,

Vehicle Misidentified in Political Cartoon

Overturned carApril 4, 2011 — Political cartoonists can be extremely clever. They can also, at times, be completely out of touch with reality — or deliberately distort reality and hope their readers are sufficiently out of touch to buy into a message unsupported by reality. Such is the case with a recent Clay Bennett cartoon from the Chattanooga Times Free Press. We won't reproduce the copyrighted cartoon here, but it depicts an automobile that has overturned after a "hard right turn," and the automobile is labeled "Congress." Humorous, but misleading.

Reality would have been better served with a cartoon depicting a "Highway to Socialism," a barricade on the highway with a sign reading "Road Closed. All Traffic Must Turn Right," directing traffic onto a right fork labeled "Return to Constitutional Government," and a speeding car labeled "Congressional Democrats' Agenda" that rolled over after failing to negotiate [pardon the pun] the turn. — Perspicaciously Yours, Rand Green, Editor/Publisher,

Activist Judges Are At It Again!

GavelMarch 19, 2011 — The unconstitutional arrogation by activist judges in county, state and federal courts of the power to legislate from the bench, overruling acts of legislative bodies and the executive branch without sound constitutional justification, or creating new law out of thin air, and thumbing their noses at the wishes of the people, has become so prevalent that it would take a sizeable research staff just to keep on top of all instances of this type of official judicial misconduct. It seems to have become the norm for judges to throw out legislation or create their own based on nothing more than what they think the law ought to be.

A recent and flagrant example is the decision on Friday, March 18, by Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi to issue a temporary restraining order halting implementation of a law recently passed by the Wisconsin legislature and signed by Gov. Scott Walker on March 11 that would put limits on the power of public employee unions. The law, which had previously approved by the state Senate, passed the Assembly on March 10 by vote of 53-42.

As in many other states and in the federal government, public employee unions have used their unchecked power to extort from the public treasury (meaning from taxpayers) salary and benefit packages well above the average compensations for their private-sector counterparts, and at levels that are economically unsustainable. They are a major cause of the financial crisis that the federal government and many state governments are currently facing.

Ruling on a complaint filed March 16 by Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne, a Democrat, Judge Sumi ordered the state not to publish the new law until she ruled on an injunction and then stated, before there has even been a hearing, that she expected that ruling to come down in Ozanne's favor.

Reuters quoted Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen, a Republican, as saying that "the Legislature and the Governor, not a single Dane County Circuit Court Judge, are responsible for the enactment of laws." Van Hollen is right, and We, the People, must take the necessary action to put these power-crazed judges back in their place and restore the Constitutional separation of powers that is essential to the preservation of our freedoms. As with legislators mayors, governors and presidents, judges also need to be reminded that they are the servants and not the rulers of the people. If they refuse to remember, they need to be removed from office. — Perspicaciously Yours, Rand Green, Editor/Publisher,

What does an assassination in Pakistan have to do with a court ruling in San Francisco?

January 5, 2011 —  In a misguided, if not deliberately seditious, misinterpretation of the First Amendment, a three-judge panel of the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco has once again struck a blow at the United States Constitution the judges are sworn to defend, by ruling yesterday that the very presence of a cross at a war memorial on public land on Mt. Soledad in San Diego is unconstitutional. The cross was erected in 1954, replacing others dating back to 1913. The court challenge has been ongoing since 1989.

The judges of the Ninth Circuit, long the most liberal federal court in the land, have taken the arrogant and presumptuous posture that it is within their prerogative to interpret the Constitution to mean whatever they think it ought to mean, and that the original intent of the Constitution's framers is irrelevant, as are more than two centuries of legal precedent. The court, in its Jan. 4, 2011 ruling, is using its own interpretation of the First Amendment, which was intended to protect freedom of religion, to abridge that very freedom, ludicrously claiming that the mere presence of the cross on public land constitutes a government endorsement and, therefore, state establishment, of a particular religion, infringing on the supposed right of non-Christians to not be offended by seeing a Christian religious symbol.

Interestingly, however, the Ninth Circuit saw things quite differently when it ruled in an earlier case that it's okay for public schools to teach non-Muslim children about Islam by asking them to role-play, pretend to be Muslims for three weeks, recite Muslim prayers, memorize the Muslim profession of faith, chant "Praise be to Allah," profess as "true" the Muslim belief that "The Holy Quran is God's word," and take an Arabic name. All of that, said the Ninth Circuit, is protected, not prohibited, by the First Amendment. In the court's view, only Christianity, it seems, is restricted by the Constitution.

Already in some places in the United States, people are facing criminal prosecution under hate speech laws for quoting the Bible. What's next? Enforcement by the Ninth Circuit of Shariah (Islamic law) anti-blasphemy laws, which invoke the death penalty for those criticizing Islam?

Islamists in the United States, masquerading as "moderate" Muslims while engaging in stealth jihad, have been successful in increasingly insinuating Shariah, which is in direct conflict with the Constitution, into the fabric of American society. As an indication of where that can lead (and where radical Islamists are trying to take it), on the same day that the Ninth Circuit declared a Christian symbol on public property to be unconstitutional, Talman Taseer, the governor of the province of Punjab, Pakistan, was assassinated. An outspoken critic of religious extremism, he was shot by one of his own body guards who, according to Bee News Services, "authorities said was angry about [Taseer's] opposition to blasphemy laws carrying the death sentence for insulting the Muslim faith…. Taseer publicly vented his opposition to Pakistan's harsh blasphemy laws introduced in the 1980s."

Is this kind of religious oppression coming soon to a theater near you? It may be, if we continue to allow federal judges who detest the very principles on which our nation was founded to rewrite the Constitution in their own image. — Perspicaciously Yours, Rand Green, Editor/Publisher,

13 of Trump’s Cabinet Nominees Await Senate Approval, Leaving Agencies Without a Leader

The Daily Signal

PRESIDENT Donald Trump moved at a blistering pace to fulfill several campaign promises during his first week in the White House. At the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue, however, 13 of his Cabinet nominees continue to wait for confirmation votes.

Ad for Rand Edits Right book editing service.

Trump begins his second week with the same number of Cabinet secretaries as last week: two. That number should at least double by Tuesday after the Senate votes to confirm Rex Tillerson for secretary of state and Elaine Chao for secretary of transportation.

The slow pace of confirmations is delaying Trump’s ability to implement his agenda, several former administration officials told The Daily Signal.  READ MORE

Not if Congress Follows
Small-Business Model

President & CEO, National Federation of Independent Business

THE VERY PEOPLE who could make significant contributions to restoring our economy —small-business owners — are hog-tied by their own government. They could be growing their businesses, creating jobs and building an economic firewall to insulate America from the inferno being fueled all across Europe. Instead, the Obama administration, as it has since taking office, consistently blocks Main Street with more complex regulations, loads of paperwork and cunning legal maneuvers designed to kill tax incentives essential to growth.

Vice President, News Corporation

MANY SCHOLARS ARE better versed on the history of public employee unions than I am, but there is one credential I can claim that they cannot: I am a taxpayer in the People’s Republic of New Jerseystan. That makes me an authority on how public sector unions—especially at the state and local level—are thwarting economic growth, strangling the middle class, and generally hijacking the democratic process to serve their own ends rather than the public.

Reagan's Moral Courage

Author and Historian

Ronald Reagan"THE DEFINING FEATURE of Ronald Reagan was his moral courage. It takes tremendous moral courage to resist the overwhelming tide of received opinion and so-called expert wisdom and to say and do exactly the opposite. It could not have been pleasant for Reagan to be denounced as an ignorant cowboy, an extremist, a warmonger, a fascist, or worse by people who thought themselves intellectually superior to him. Yet Reagan responded to those brickbats with the cheery resolve that characterized not only the man, but his entire career. What is more, he proceeded during his two terms as president to prove his critics completely wrong."

The Constitution and Limited Government

"The advent of the administrative state poses the greatest challenge to limited government, because it elevates the welfare of the community—whether real or imagined—over the rights and liberties of individuals. The task today is to confine the federal government to its delegated powers. The minions of the administrative state seek to destroy constitutional boundaries in their desire to replace politics with administration. This is tantamount to denying that legitimate government derives from the consent of the governed, or that limited government rests on the sovereignty of the people."

Brian T. KennedyWE ARE OFTEN told that we possess the most powerful military in the world and that we will face no serious threat for some time to come. But these reassurances are myths, propagated on the right and left alike. We believe them at our peril, because serious threats are already upon us.

THE PRESIDENCY is the most visible thread that runs through the tapestry of the American government. More often than not, for good or for ill, it sets the tone for the other branches and spurs the expectations of the people. Its powers are vast and consequential, its requirements impossible for mortals to fulfill without humility and insistent attention to its purpose as set forth in the Constitution of the United States. Isn’t it amazing, given the great and momentous nature of the office, that those who seek it seldom pause to consider what they are seeking? Rather, unconstrained by principle or reflection, there is a mad rush toward something that, once its powers are seized, the new president can wield as an instrument with which to transform the nation and the people according to his highest aspirations.

Tax Increase Would Kill Economic Growth, Jobs

American Heritage Institute

A STEADY STREAM of disappointing economic numbers indicates that the nation may be on the cusp of yet another job-destroying recession that could put more Ohio workers out of a job. It is in this troubled economic environment that President Barack Obama and his allies are pressing ahead with plans to raise taxes. Higher taxes always mean slower economic growth and fewer jobs.

Winston Churchill“If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a small chance of survival. There may even be a worse case: you may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”
Sir Winston Churchill
